It depends on the original — photos with lots of detail compress less than simple graphics, but most JPG/PNG files shrink by 50-80% with minimal visible quality loss.
Only if the image is larger than 1920px on its longest side, in which case it's resized down to keep file size reasonable. Smaller images keep their original dimensions.
No hard limit is enforced by the tool itself, but very large images (100MB+) may be slow or run out of memory depending on your device, since everything processes locally in your browser.
Both are compressed, but they lose quality differently — JPG uses lossy compression tuned for photos, PNG stays lossless but benefits from re-encoding and stripping unnecessary metadata.
