Frequently asked questions

Will I lose photo quality converting HEIC to JPG?

There's a small amount of quality loss any time you convert between compressed formats, but at default settings it's not visible to the eye. If you need the absolute original quality, keep a copy of the HEIC file too.

Is this safe for private photos?

Yes — the conversion runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your photo is never uploaded anywhere; you can confirm this yourself by checking your browser's Network tab while converting.

Why do iPhones save photos as HEIC instead of JPG?

HEIC compresses about twice as efficiently as JPG at the same quality, so Apple made it the default in iOS 11+. The tradeoff is that many older apps, Windows programs, and websites still only accept JPG.

Can I convert multiple HEIC files at once?

Right now this tool converts one file at a time. If you need to convert a batch, just repeat the process for each photo — since everything runs locally, there's no daily limit.
